What is a Design Sprint?

A Design Sprint is an agile methodology developed by Jake Knapp - a Google Ventures UX Engineer who wanted to create meaningful products in short time. In 2016 he wrote his book 'Sprint: How to Solve Big Problems and Test New Ideas in Just Five Days'. The book became a sensation and in a short period of time challenged other agile methodologies like SCRUM and Feature Driven Development (FDD).
As the book title says, the Design Sprint focuses on developing an MVP within 5 days. This methodology is great for any product development projects. Even if we talk about programming or developing - it's still a great alternative, and here's why:

Design Sprint Benefits:
- 1
Organizational Team Work
Design Sprint focuses on experts. This means that you as a client will also take part of a Design Sprint. Usually, in traditional agile methodologies, there's less room for you and more for designers or developers. That's why it's hard to match your expectations. With Design Sprints - you're an extension of our team.
- 2
Team exercises
Design Sprint is a dynamic, yet enjoyable process. Our team runs exercises like Mapping, How Might We or Lighting Demos to fully understand your idea and seek product obstacles. We'll also ask you to practice these exercises with us which facilitate the collaboration and product success.
- 3
No busy work here...
With traditional sprints you're constantly doing a lot of iterations and changes in design or code. Design Sprints focuses on gathering full understanding of current challenges. Everything is documented and ready to be put into step-by-step process. So, no busy work caused by roadblocks or bad documentation.
- 4
Ideas don't matters
In Design Sprints only execution matters. And that's a selling point here. We don't lose time on useless features or user experiences. Everything is discussed with you and your team and later on put into production. We also focus on interactive prototypes will flawlessly shows user experience and product interactions.

Design Sprint Objectives
The Design Sprint objectives are focused on testing experiences and concepts in a short period of time. Here is the full list of objectives:
- 1
Solve problems and test new ideas in a focused and measurable way
- 1
Kickstart and obtain initial validation for product design work to maximize the chances of creating something people want.
- 1
The Design Sprint gives teams a shortcut to learning. Instead of waiting to launch a minimal product to understand if an idea is good, you’ll get clear data from a realistic prototype.

Design Sprint Deliverables:
What clients think about our process
"I was blown away by the years of knowledge and expertise Chris shared with us, the advice he personally gave, and the brutal honesty and constructive feedback that made us so much better. Other designers/developers would simply take your design or ideas and just do what you say without any care in the world if it's the worst idea or design ever. Chris and his team are different. They actually care. Crazy right? They're deeply invested in your success. With them on board, they will take you to new places you never imagined possible. It almost feels like they're an extension of your team that is ALWAYS available for you any time of day or night, regardless of what timezone you're in. In the end, you're left with a best in class project that was executed flawlessly, and you're begging to work with them more and see their magic in action again!"
"We began working with Chris and Lumious about 4 months ago and we're truly lucky to have found them. They've completed 2 web design projects, an Amazon store design, and several various graphic/render projects. Their amazing graphic work is what initially caught our attention, but their expertise goes much further than that. The amount of thought and effort they put into any project is unmatched. Along with excellent communication and planning every step of the way. When they say they're UX experts, they aren't kidding. They take everything from basic functionality to customer psychology into account when laying the groundwork for these projects. Every concept has a reason behind it. Chris and his team are the ideal partners for any design project. You won't regret hiring them!"
"Being a company working with big data sometimes might be challenging to forecast if users will understand and get our metrics, with the right tonality and look. Chris and his team are going a great job at researching our industry, which by the way is focused on A.I psychometric research. We're happy to find him passionate about what he's doing. And this could be seen from the number of practical tips that Chris could share throughout discovery calls. We had a lot of interviews with different freelancers. Most of them failed or never accomplished nearly what we've envisioned. When we had our call with Chris, he bombarded us with examples and real-time solutions for our UX/UI needs, and especially data visualization. A few months later, we decided to use his team to develop the frontend of our app. They did an amazing job. They documented the design and made sure that all the UI components, whether it's a simple form or something bigger like an onboarding system - is fully visible to us. They did the entire app in Adobe XD, with all the interactions! We were truly amazed. And to be honest, those interactive screens helped us to take better decisions. We're now using Chris to complete any design or development challenge we do have today. He makes things go so easily. And their project management methodology (I believe they call it design sprints) is something we never saw before. Our whole team got engaged in this process. It's something magic!"
